Weekend, noun, “the period from Friday evening through Sunday evening, especially regarded as a time for leisure.” There are no such things as being ashamed to admit that we’re able to get through Monday to Friday because of the great anticipation on those two majestic days. After spending almost five days outside the comfort of our house and warm embrace of our bed, we deserve a little bit of break. Problem ensues once we realize that we don’t actually want to spend the whole entire weekend at home – we need to do something and let our mind be free.
If you’re looking for some fun, interesting, and unique weekend activities, well then you are in great luck, because we’ve compiled this list for you.
TAKE A DRAWING CLASS
One of the most relaxing and stress relieving activities on earth is drawing. Scribbling some random shapes on top of your canvas and then splashing it with color – there is nothing more satisfying than that. You don’t have to feel insecure with your drawing skill because in this class, everyone comes to learn a new thing. If it makes you feel any better, even the founder of French Impressionism, Claude Monet, had been told that his paintings were formless and ugly! So, it is suffice to say that practice does make everything prefect.
EXPLORE THE CITY
You might think that you know everything about it, because you’ve been living in the same place for as long as you can possibly remember. But of course, you might miss a thing or two for everything is constantly evolved. Even that beloved city of yours which used to be a lot smaller, or so you thought. Write down a list of places you’ve always wanted to visit but didn’t have the time to. Local museums, parks, libraries, or cafés - the city has everything to offer to everyone with different interest. To make this exploration even more fun, ditch your car or motorcycle at home and hop onto a train or bus. Public transportation is the best help there is to get to know your city more intimately.
JOIN A LOCAL COMMUNITY
This is a great chance for you to join that local community you’ve always wanted to be a part of. It might be a little nerve wracking at first, because you have to introduce yourself in front of total strangers, but set your fears aside for it is going to be a fun experience to have. If you happen to be an avid movie goers, find some information about your local movie fan club on the internet and dive into the conversation about the latest hit on cinema. Maybe you are a photography enthusiast, a part-time gardener, or a book aficionado – exchanging stories with those who have common interest as you are will definitely be a blast.
If you wanted to learn the most valuable lessons in life, you might want to consider on doing a volunteer work. Not only it will help you to maintain your physical health, but according to researchers from the London School of Economics, volunteering will also create a huge impact on your mental health – it’ll make you happier and more emphatic. Don’t forget to conduct a brief research on the internet to find out your true calling and how can you offer your help in that area. Whether it is a volunteer work at your local animal shelter, nursing home, school, village, or maybe a peace corps - every little thing counts.
LEARN SOMETHING COMPLETELY NEW
“To learn something new, you need to try new things and not be afraid to be wrong.” That is what politician Roy T Bennet said about the importance of learning. We live in the world where everything is constantly moved, thus changes are something we couldn’t possibly avoid. This is where knowledge will come in handy – it will help us to understand the world around us. It can be as simple as learning how to sew, how to cook pasta, to ride a motorcycle, or even to explore a new language. Everything will come easy if you put your mind to it.
